Rather than relying only on a quoted copying time, you can test how quickly and reliably a trade copier synchronizes trading activity between MT4 and MT5 accounts using the same computer or Windows VPS that you intend to use for trading.
A useful test should examine more than the opening of a single trade. It should include new trades, modifications, Stop Loss and Take Profit changes, pending orders, partial or complete closures, and multiple receiver accounts if those are part of your intended setup.
It is also important to distinguish between trade copier synchronization time and the additional time required for the receiver's broker to execute a trading request.

A simple trade copier speed test can be performed using two MetaTrader demo accounts:
1. Run a transmitter and receiver terminal on the same Windows computer or Windows VPS.
2. Attach Local Trade Copier EA MT4/5© to the appropriate transmitter and receiver charts.
3. Open a market trade manually on the transmitter account.
4. Record or observe when the transmitter trade appears.

The receiver then has a separate path:
MT4/MT5 Receiver → Receiver Broker → Market
Keeping these two paths conceptually separate will make your test results much easier to understand.
Before concentrating on milliseconds, first confirm that the copier is configured correctly.
Check that:
the transmitter is operating correctly
the receiver detects the intended transmitter
automated trading is permitted where required
the correct symbols are available
symbol mapping is configured if broker symbol names differ
trade filters are not unintentionally excluding the test trade
copying times or trading-hour restrictions are not blocking the test
receiver lot-sizing settings are appropriate
no intentional copying delay has been configured
A configuration problem can easily be mistaken for a performance problem.
For example, if a receiver is waiting because of an intentionally configured condition or filter, measuring the resulting delay would not tell you the underlying speed of the local copying process.
Start with the simplest possible event: a new market trade.
Open a small test position manually on the transmitter demo account.
As you do this, note the transmitter trade time and observe the receiver terminal.
You are looking for the sequence:
Transmitter trade detected → Copying instruction processed → Receiver trading request

However, be careful about what you measure.
The final appearance of an executed receiver position also involves the receiver broker. Therefore, the complete time between clicking Buy or Sell on the transmitter and seeing a fully executed receiver trade may contain both:
copier synchronization time + broker execution time
These should not automatically be treated as one measurement.
A common mistake is to compare the transmitter and receiver entry prices and assume that any difference proves the copier was slow.

The receiver's final execution price is determined by its broker.
If the transmitter and receiver use different brokers, they may have different:
bid and ask prices
spreads
liquidity
symbol specifications
execution conditions
server response times
Prices can also move between the transmitter trade and receiver execution, particularly in a fast market.
Therefore:
A fast trade copier should minimize unnecessary synchronization delay, but it cannot guarantee identical entry prices between independent trading accounts.
When testing copying speed, evaluate the copying process separately from the final broker fill whenever possible.
A trade copier needs to do more than open positions quickly.
Once your test trade is open, change its Stop Loss or Take Profit on the transmitter.
Observe whether the corresponding modification is processed promptly and correctly by the receiver.
Try several modifications:
Test A: Add a Stop Loss.
Test B: Change the Stop Loss.
Test C: Add or change the Take Profit.
Test D: Remove a Stop Loss or Take Profit if this is relevant to your intended trading method.
This tests synchronization during the life of an existing trade rather than only at entry.
A good speed test should examine the complete trading workflow.
If your strategy uses partial closures, include them in your test.
For example, open a test position and then close part of the transmitter position.
Observe how the receiver processes the corresponding change according to its configured settings.
This is particularly useful because real-world copying is not always simply:
Open → Close
A trading strategy may generate several events between entry and final exit.
Testing those events gives you a much better picture of copier performance.
Next, close the transmitter position completely.
Observe how promptly the receiver responds.

Receiver → Broker → Execution
A receiver broker can still introduce its own execution time after the copier has processed the closure instruction.
This distinction is particularly important in rapidly moving markets, where the final receiver exit price can differ from the transmitter exit price.
If you use pending orders, they should be part of your test rather than assuming that results from market orders apply to every situation.
Test the pending-order behaviour you actually intend to use.
For example:
Place a pending order on the transmitter.
Check the corresponding receiver behaviour.
Modify the pending order.
Change its SL or TP if applicable.
Cancel it and observe the receiver.

If that is how you intend to trade, test that configuration specifically.
The objective is not to test every possible setting. It is to test your intended workflow.

Speed should not be tested by stripping away all the settings you actually intend to use.

Once you have established that the copier works correctly during normal conditions, you can compare behaviour during different market environments.
For example, perform tests during:
Normal market conditions
Prices are relatively stable and spreads are typical.
Busier market conditions
Trading activity and price movement are higher.
This can help reveal an important distinction.
If local synchronization remains responsive but the receiver takes longer to obtain a final fill during a volatile period, the additional delay may be occurring in the broker execution stage, rather than in the copier itself.
You do not need to deliberately trade during extreme news events merely to perform a speed test. Normal and naturally busier market periods are sufficient to understand the distinction.
This is the most important part of the entire test.
Think of the complete process as two measurements:
Transmitter → Local Trade Copier → Receiver
This is the stage controlled by the copying software.
Receiver → Receiver Broker → Market
This stage is outside the copier's direct control.
Suppose the copier processes an instruction very quickly, but the receiver broker takes additional time to execute it.
Looking only at the final receiver trade could make the entire delay appear to belong to the copier.
It does not.
Likewise, if the transmitter and receiver receive different prices, the price difference alone does not reveal how quickly the copier synchronized the instruction.
For a fair test, always ask:
Where did the delay actually occur?
You do not need specialist benchmarking software to perform a useful practical test.

A good test should answer more than:
“How many milliseconds did one trade take?”
It should tell you:

Are modifications synchronized reliably?
Are closures handled correctly?
Do pending orders behave as configured?
Does performance remain reliable with multiple receivers?
Does the setup remain responsive over repeated tests?
Can you distinguish copier synchronization from broker execution?
These questions provide a much more realistic assessment of a trade copier than comparing one pair of entry prices.
Avoid these common testing mistakes:
Testing only one trade
One result tells you very little about consistency.
Comparing only entry prices
Different prices do not necessarily indicate slow synchronization.
Ignoring broker execution
The receiver broker is a separate part of the process.
